In an effort to connect local neighborhoods with the historic waterfront, the LA Waterfront is involved in the development of several community enhancement projects in the San Pedro and Wilmington communities. This includes the Avalon Promenade and Gateway Project, which features SpectraPour Supreme surfacing.
SDSU Mission Valley River Park
San Diego State University (SDSU) Mission Valley is a vibrant, medium-density, mixed-use, transit-oriented development located in Southern Ca. that will transform the University and City of San Diego.
Jesse Owens Park
The park celebrated its grand reopening in late 2022. It is named after Jesse Owens, an American runner who won four gold medals in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Today, he’s still considered one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Many features in the park pay homage to Mr. Owens and the sport of running. But perhaps the most notable park attribute is the playground surfacing which is designed to look like a running track that encircles the playground equipment.
Greater Whittier Regional Aquatic Center
The Greater Whittier Regional Aquatic Center is a new public aquatic facility located in the community of West Whittier, Los Angeles County. The sprawling center includes a competitive swimming pool, a practice pool, and a number of recreational amenities.
From beginner swim lessons to water polo and aqua aerobics, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy at this state-of-the-art aquatic facility.
Lucinda Garcia Park
Lucinda Garcia Park is named after long-time Monrovia resident Lucinda Valentine Garcia who was a community activist dedicated to achieving racial equality. The park is located in Monrovia, California which has a rich Latino heritage. A number of enhancements were made as part of the park’s first renovation in over 40 years, and SpectraTurf was excited to be part of the memorable project.
Ninjago Training Camp
SpectraTurf is thrilled to have been a part of a million-dollar project at LEGOLAND® CALIFORNIA RESORT that gets between 10,000-20,000 guests per day! Named Ninjago Training Camp, this 10,000 square foot site was originally a water ride. After 15,000 tons of base, a whole lot of teamwork, and a year of permitting and construction – the one and only Ninjago Training Camp is now open!
Parklane Community Playground
The recently opened East Park is a great addition to the 228-home Parklane Community, serving not only families within the HOA, but also the general public as the community is included in the larger Ontario, CA, master plan.
Meeting all ADA requirements and providing equipment and amenities that serve a wide age group and varying ability levels, this project tied together important elements of the Parklane Community.
Marine Park
This fully inclusive playground features a custom lifeguard tower play structure, a fully wheelchair-accessible marine-themed play structure, a “we-go-round” wheelchair accessible spinner, and a custom Ferris wheel climber (in homage of the one on the Santa Monica Pier!).
RecWest was thrilled with the seamless installation of the SpectraTurf surfacing, which was done in phases, as they worked around the playground installation crews. A difficult job which turned out perfectly!
Lincoln Park “Ocean Themed” Inclusive Playground
The custom “ocean-themed” play experience features a one-of-a-kind “We-Go-Round” spinner, along with a number of climbers and slides linked together throughout the mound-filled play space. A custom “boardwalk climber” allows for children of all abilities to traverse play-mounds and access all the different play components.
