Overview
On May 1, 2021, the City of Encinitas unveiled their newest community recreational facility – Olympus Park. This 3.1-acre neighborhood park includes various amenities, such as an exercise pad, dog park, skate park, and a bike pump track. The creativity of the designers can be seen in the botanical garden, public art elements, and various colorful play elements. The playground area features whimsical play structures, shade elements, and our favorite part — the adventure hill!
This park project included a robust public outreach process and collaboration with City staff, including Public Works, Parks Department, and maintenance staff. RRM Design Group was hired to work with the local community to discuss challenges and opportunities with the project, and design a park that everyone was proud to support. The City even included the community in helping to name the park.
Those involved in the planning process of this project knew they needed a safe and durable surfacing product for the playground area — so they turned to SpectraTurf. Our SpectraPour Supreme system is the perfect solution. Not only will this product provide visitors with the highest level of safety, but it will also increase the playground’s expected life and decrease maintenance costs.
Unique Project Features
This project included many site challenges, but the most difficult to navigate was the grading of the ground. Building a playground on a hill is no easy task, but the installation crew at SpectraTurf loves a good challenge!
