Overview
The American Public Works Association (APWA) San Diego & Imperial Counties Chapter in San Diego County, Calif., gives its members access to the best education and training programs in public works, as well as networking opportunities with more than 32,000 public works professionals. Each year this chapter hosts an annual awards program to recognize outstanding partnerships among the managing agency, consultants, architects, and engineers involved with projects in the region. We are happy to announce that in 2024, three SpectraTurf projects were recognized as award winners!
Key Challenges and Solutions
The City of Del Mar Powerhouse Park Tot Lot Renovation and SDSU Mission Valley Park Phase I projects feature SpectraPour, a 2-layer system that is mixed, poured, and troweled on-site. The base layer features a shock-absorbing rubber material, and the top layer contains half-inch-thick rubber granules. Available in more than 20 colors, SpectraPour also allows for custom shapes and designs.
The City of San Diego Tecolote South Shores Park Improvement project features SpectraPour Supreme, a safety playground surface that uses the highest-quality products on the market! This system features a higher density, smaller particle size (0.5-1.5 mm Spectra TPV granule) in the top layer combined with a high-quality UV stable aliphatic binder that is poured over a shock-absorbing rubber base pad. This safety surface is also available in a variety of colors, designs, and shapes and can be used to provide ADA access.
